Closing Thought–14Sep17

In Saner Thought

It is just fun watching the reactions to the world has to anything North Korea does……you really have NO idea how many plans are out there to deal with the ego of Li’l Kim…..

South Korea has come up with a plan that could eliminate the use of nukes by anybody…..

South Korea has taken the unusual step of publicly speaking about plans to assassinate Kim Jong Un and other North Korean leaders in the event of conflict. After North Korea’s latest nuclear test, South Korean Defense Minister Song Young Moo told lawmakers that he was speeding up the creation of a “decapitation unit” capable of crossing the border for nighttime missions against North Korean facilities and its “wartime command,” the New York Times reports. Officials say the special forces unit, which will apparently be comprised of members of the “Spartan 3000” unit, will be capable of striking anywhere…

States That Legalized Marijuana May Have A Big Problem

So far, there are 27 states that have legalized recreational and /or medical marijuana.

This post is taken from Marijuana Policy Project:

I’ve [Rob Kampia] received news that Congressman Dana Rohrabacher’s (R-CA) amendment to the omnibus-spending bill — which has prevented the Justice Department from interfering with state medical marijuana laws since December 2014 — is now in serious danger.
Some of our allies got excited when House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI) told Rep. Rohrabacher that renewing his amendment was “important.”
They got excited when a bad Republican subcommittee chair told a good Republican that Rohrabacher’s amendment would definitely see a vote on the House floor, as long as the good Republican agreed not to raise the amendment in committee. (He agreed.)
MPP never trusted these Republicans. We’ve been sounding alarm bells about this for months, and it turns out we’ve been right the whole time.
I’ve just learned that a different, bad Republican chair has informed a good Republican that Rohrabacher’s amendment isn’t guaranteed to see a vote. (Without a vote, it won’t pass.)
In my professional opinion, this means we’re screwed in the House.
Our only hope is to convince the joint House/Senate committee to choose the Senate version of the spending bill, which includes a medical marijuana amendment that was recently inserted by our friend, Sen. Patrick Leahy (D-VT).
If Congress chooses the House version, Attorney General Sessions, the DEA, and the DOJ will have the power to raid medical marijuana businesses and arrest patients in the 29 medical marijuana states starting on October 1.

“Why Trump Won”

I’m going to watch Fareed Zakaria’s CNN program tonight at 9 pm. I have much respect for his handle on world affairs, and am looking forward to watching the special program. My “take” on “Why Trump Won” is very simple:  He lied to the simple. And they believed.

I walked out onto my patio to watch the rain and noticed someone found a way to stay dry. Clinging to the screen under the overhang.

Independence Day: Enjoying Your Freedom? Don’t Thank a Veteran…

You got that right!!

The Ghosts of Tal'Afar

Independence Day for Americans is a day where we signify the birth of a nation; the start of the grand experiment known as democracy and the establishment of a set of systems and values that would go on to define the United States, of which we are still continuing to how should I say, “refine” as necessary.  Perhaps “tweak” is a more apropos; refinement lends more towards the purposeful processing, removing of impurities or unwanted portions in order to reduce the content of the substance down to a more pure, valuable or useful state. Some may think the United States is being refined, others may think the contrary. Nevertheless, days like the 4th of July have great meaning behind them, that like
